五根色:

faith, white; zeal, red; memory yellow; meditation, blue; and wisdom, black. These are represented inter alia in the [lang id =1028]五色線 (or [lang id =1028]五色縷, or [lang id =1028]五色綖, or [lang id =1028]五色繩) the five-colored emblematic cord; this cord is also a brahman's sign worn on the shoulder and forbidden by the Buddha.
